Tradie classifieds site Hipages has left its garage days behind, moving into a newly renovated office space in Sydney’s CBD.
The company, which was founded in 2004, has leased two floors in the Hilton Office Tower, following a hiring spree that has doubled the Hipages’ headcount since 2015. The home renovation-inspired office is designed to give the company room to continue to grow.
The space, which in typical start-up fashion features large collaborative workspaces, was officially opened last week by NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
Late last year the company announced 37 per cent year-on-year revenue growth, totalling $37 million, as the number of jobs booked via its platform continues to grow month-over-month.
After digitising the classified model for a mobile, on-demand economy, now more than 100,000 jobs are posted on the platform by consumers each month. But that’s still a small share of the total market in Australia, David Vitek, Hipages Co-Founder and CEO, told Which-50.
Vitek says the new office space indicates the growth opportunity in the market.
“Even though we’ve got this great growth it is still such a small percentage of the market,” Vitek said.
“This is such a big problem to solve. And we’ve got such a small portion of it.”
The Sydney office houses 160 staff and the company plans to add another 50 roles this year.
To drive that growth the Hipages is planning to continue its marketing efforts to raise brand awareness, having recently hired CBA marketer Stuart Tucker.
Hipages also plans to continue investing in its product technology and customer experience.
